Smoky Mountain Getaway

We just returned from vacation.
It was the worst of  times.....It was the best of times
And at times it was a little Griswold :-(

I realize that looking at our vacation pictures is about as exciting as looking at home movies.... but since this is my form of scrapping I want to document it  ;-)

Our first stop was-

The Titanic museum was very interesting and we had some wonderful tour guides that made you feel as if you were on the ship.

Hallie and Hunter both wanted to see bears and this was the least expensive outing but I believe the one they enjoyed the most.

We also traveled to Cades Cove in the rain but it was still beautiful like scenes from a postcard and we saw plenty of deer.

We all loved our cabin, you can see Hunter enjoying the hot tub and Hallie dipping in her toes.

And of course it wouldn't be a trip without a few snapshots!

Go! Go!

The day before Hallie's birthday party was also the same day of Hunter's church basketball tournament. We had things to pick up in LaGrange but didn't want to miss any of Hunter playing so in between games we flew over there. Our last stop was Wal-Mart and we were really pressed for time so Tim dropped me out at the door and said he would find a spot and keep the car running. Ok-so I come out & see the back of the van with lights on and ready and I run and jump in yelling "GO GO"!!!!!

OK are you jumping ahead and know what happens next?????
It wasn't Tim in the van it was a poor woman who started screaming like this...

And when she started screaming guess what I did???
I started screaming like this....

Yes folks I did jump in the wrong van screaming "GO GO" like I had just held up Wal-Mart. I fell back out apologizing profusely and the lady's daughter happened to be walking up at the same time. By this time I had spotted my van and was pointing and saying "I promise I'm not crazy that's my van that looks just like yours" but I could tell they thought crazy was a relative term!! I also bet they were thankful to see our tag was out of state and we were headed back that way!!

The Party-Cast, Craft & Cake!!!

The Cast
Everyone knows it can't be a party without your friends!
A picture with the Birthday Girl
See how much she still loves to be smothered in kisses!
She truly loved the surprise visit from Tyler :-)

The Craft
When we started planning Hallie's party we were trying to think of a craft to do and we decided on these ribbon flips flops. They turned out so cute!
And...the finished product

The Cake
A few pics of making wishes and blowing out the candles.
Hallie got lots of wonderful gifts but one thing that struck me as Hallie growing up is that she actually read (and I mean READ) each card. I think the poor girls thought gift time would never end.
Of course, just as I think she is maturing she does a dance with the tissue paper-which was fine by me because she seems to be growing up way too fast!
Until next year Happy Birthday Hallie Bug :-)

Hallie's Polka Dot Party

Hallie celebrated her 9th birthday with a polka dot party. She requested pink/lime green colors and polka dots (of course). This is what we came up with. There is so many pictures I am going to divide it into a couple of post.
We chose polka dot ribbon flip flops as the craft/favors. I lucked up and found lime green baskets that held the flip flops and ribbons for each girl.
The next post will have more on the flip flop craft but I had to show one pic of how cute they are finished :-)

I have to admit I had fun planning all these polka dots and went a little polka dot crazy on the food table.

We had vanilla cupcakes and I had talented Summerlyn do cupcake toppers for us. They turned out super cute!

I asked my friend Amy to do us a polka dot cake and oh my did she deliver! It was beautiful and soooo good. Amy is super creative and had the idea to add the bunting cake topper with Hallie's name, I loved it! I also have to add that Amy was an answered prayer, she helped us decorate, took pictures-she made the party stress free. Thank You Amy!!
The Hallie banner also has her room colors so we're planning on hanging it in her room now.
Stay tuned for Polka Dot Party Part 2!
